Involving
Member involvement generates a member’s perceived value for the organization, which will result in a greater sense of commitment from the member and provides the opportunity to capitalize on the members’ skills, talents, and expertise to help fulfill the organization’s goals
- Member involvement is crucial for two reasons:
– Member involvement generates a member’s perceived value for the organization, which will result in a greater sense of commitment from the member
– Member involvement provides the opportunity to capitalize on the members’ skills, talents, and expertise to help fulfill the organization’s goals
- The organization’s culture has a significant impact on the level of member involvement
- The organization needs to create an environment that invites member involvement
- Involvement covers a wide range of member actions, including participating in activities, volunteering, and a willingness to assume a leadership role
- Involvement provides the association the opportunity to observe, recruit, and train volunteers and identify future leaders
For the Purpose of Involving New Members, Choose Current Members Who Are:
- Not interested in typical recruiting activities
- Interested in serving in a mentor role
- Well informed of squadron activities
- The person in this role acts as a conduit between the more experienced, involved members and the new member.
- This person eases the transition from new member to active/involved member to satisfied/renewing member
Some Productive Strategies For Involving:
- Mentoring new members
- Greeter at meetings
- Squadron newsletter/bulletin editor
- Specialty tracks
- Personalized notes of appreciation to members who have made contributions
- Recognize volunteers by name at meetings
- Publish a list of jobs that need filling in newsletter or post the list during meetings
