Five Stages

 

 

For the Purpose of Prospecting, Choose Members Who Are:

  • Not comfortable recruiting new members
  • Looking for increased exposure
  • Interested in meeting a lot of new people involved in the profession, industry or cause
  • Willing to share their client base, colleague roster, and other prospective member information
  • Looking for an outlet to use their creativity

 

Some Sources of Prospective Cadet Members:

  • Church youth groups
  • Girl and Boy Scout troops
  • Sports teams
  • Recreation centers, YMCA
  • Summer camp programs
  • After-school activities
  • Music, dance, art classes at private places of learning
  • Neighborhood

 

Some Sources of Prospective Senior Members:

  • Organization sponsored functions
  • Conventions
  • Educational programs
  • Trade shows
  • Civic organizations
  • Social events
  • Workplace
  • Professional or trade groups
  • Community or charitable organizations

 

Tips for Prospecting:

  • Tap the knowledge of existing members for developing and maintaining a prospect list
  • Invite prospects to Wing or Squadron Commander’s Prospective Member Reception (perhaps a few minutes prior to meeting)
  • Have plenty of membership applications available at the reception or event there are prospective members attending
